Gift from the crazy man. Promo copy so I think it's just one of those he took a pass on. First image was one of those talent show contestants, but I see no mention of that. Get's the title of the youngest singer ever signed by Sony. Not much out there on this 12 year old Aussie christian singer. Voice alone, couldn't tell if this was male or female. Once puberty kicks it will not be the same. Not a bad voice with some nice song choices. Very nice arrangements with plenty of strings. Nothing original that I know of, but the one I had not heard will get my vote, Sometmes A Prayer (no clip). Runner up is a very nice cover of Cohens Hallelujah. Nothing I loved here and 4 I did not like at all, but still gets it a barely passing grade.

Worst Track - Wiyathul

Best Track - Sometimes A Prayer

Sometimes we stumble
Sometimes we even fall
And we can't find a friend
Can't comprehend it all
And we are lost
With nothing to hold on to

When we can't find the answer
Sometimes a Prayer will do
And though we wonder
Uncertain if we will get through
To face the future
Sometimes a prayer will do

Sometimes we reach
For what's not really there
Sometimes we lose our grip
Come tumbling through midair
And we are searching

When we can't find the answer
Sometimes a Prayer will do
And though we wonder
Uncertain if we will get through
To face the future
Sometimes a prayer will do

Then we are stronger
Somehow we know we will get through
To face the future
Sometimes a prayer will do

Yeah, we are stronger
Somehow we know we will get through
To face the future
Sometimes a prayer will do
Sometimes a prayer will do

She must have married some guy named Band. Last album was Paula Cole, this third album is Paula Cole Band. Not as good as the last one for me, with only one standout track, La Tonya, about some teenage girl growing up in the ghetto. Good stuff and not even a clip for it. Two to pass on, with the worst a near 8 minute pitiful half rap attempt complete with scratchin' on Rhythm Of Life. Overall a bit more funk on this album than the last. Only reached #97 on the album chart, with the leadoff single of I Believe In Love at #22 on the Adult top 40 chart, as opposed to the kids top 40. I prefer the pop Paula to the funk Paula.

Best Track - La Tonya

Didn't your Daddy tell you not to wear that little thing?)
Been told you never get something for nothing
My stepfather Dickie say I just might get hit
If I don't give

The girls all whisper 'hind my back
They try to break me whith cruel attacks
The boys they want only one thing
And so I give it, don't complain

Daddy's gone, Mama lost her job
Our house ain't a home no more
Still my faith's unshaken in God

I feel so lonely for hope and company
I don't take much and I give everything for free
(So, don't you want me?)

The girls all whisper 'hind by back
My baby brother's smoking crack
The boys they want only one thing
And so I give it, don't complain

Daddy's gone, Mama lost her job
Our house ain't a home no more
Still my faith's unshaken in god

I dream I get a record deal
I'll buy a way out of here
Or maybe a new Lexus jeep
Or just a friend (Am I dreamin'? Am I dreamin'?)
There's Mr. roberts,Juan and Paul
All waiting for me down the hall
But then tomorrow they don't call
Still a moment's better than none at all

Daddy's gone (My name is La Tonya)
Mama lost her job (I am a sophomore)
Our house ain't a home no more (I'll be sixteen in August)
Since Mama broke her soul (I like to sing in chorus)
Daddy's gone (My name is La Tonya)
Mama lost her job (I am a sophomore)
Our house ain't a home no more (I'll be sixteen in August)

Still my faith's unshaken
Lord won't you please save me?
Is this the new slavery?
Here on the ghetto pavement?
But I believe in you baby
Yes, my faith's unshaken
In God

Dani and i listened to this one at her place on friday night from her collection...not sure why i never bought this one, but i didnt,
a fantastic collection of live tracks taken from a Vegas show in 1997(24 tracks in all)
covering their entire career from the mid 1960s through to their mid nineties release "one"....
surprised to find that even the "disco era" tracks actually sound good now, probably because a lot of the disco feel is not there anymore....
also included on the album are several tracks they wrote for other artists including "grease", "islands in the stream", "heartbreaker" and "guilty". all of which fit in well here amongst their wellknown 'classics' from years gone by.

no rating for this one given as i couldnt be bothered doing it whilst sitting on the couch enjoying our quiet evening together but i LOVE this album...one of the best live albums i have ever heard!!!!!!

Debated with myself on 4 different genres on this one. Since they had dance club hits, why not? Easy to see why they are known by OMD by some. With four tracks on here I love, I thought the album would come out at that level, but that rubbish title track did it in with the electronic loops. Didn't know they had this many albums (11) and were still around, minus co-founder Andy McCluskey for a period, who has since rejoined. This is the groups sixth album. I also have the follow up but don't recall liking it as well as this one. We'll see when it comes up again in the rotation. My favorite here is the leadoff, So In Love, which was also the groups first minor hit single in the U.S. reaching #26. Dreamy synth pop at it's finest. Follow up single of Secret didn't fare quite as well but still does it for me. Also love The Native Daughters Of The Golden West and La Femme Accident. The string section does it for me in both of those.

Worst Track - Crush

Best Track - So In Love

Talk to me, don’t lie to me
Save your breath
Don’t look at me, don’t smile at me
Just close your eyes
I was so impressed by you
I was running blind
I would fall for every trick
Every twist of mind

Heaven's cold
Without any soul
It’s hard to believe
I was so in love with you

Don’t say your prayers, don’t build your hopes
Just walk away
Don’t phone me up, don’t call around
Don’t waste your time
You were so in awe of me
You were so divine
You would do just anything
To still be mine

Heaven's cold
Without any soul
It’s hard to believe
I was so in love with you

All the things you said to me
I was so obsessed
You were always talking talking
God I did my best

Heaven's cold
Without any soul
It’s hard to believe
I was so in love with you

"this video is not available in your country"???????, how the hell does that work when OMD had numerous minor hits here etc etc....

guess i'll have to source your favourite track elsewhere as i dont recall it from back in the day????

...in fact i dont recall any of these tracks at all, strange as the period 77-86 was my main era of music growing up
