What Are You Listening To?

CODY SIMPSON "coast to coast-ep" 2011.

NO!...this is not mine, nor is it Dani's, it actually belongs to her 16 year old daughter Krystl...
pretty hard to say "no" when it gets handed to you to play, told her i'd play it today after work, and i have...
now, Cody rose to fame here in 2008 as an 11yo who got noticed by record company jocks whilst scanning youtube, where they came across him singing in a self uploaded video...

blah, blah, blah...was offered a contract in 2010,probably in order to become an Antipodean Beiber...
i wasnt expecting much with this one, but overall it has an ok sound and feel for "teenage pop"...not bad for the most part as most of the tracks are quite good for what they are.
seven tracks on here plus a bonus remix of the first track.
guess he is just about to try the big time in the States as he recently appeared on "Ellen"....!?!?

I LIKE THIS ALBUM/"EP"

yep, you never know if the kids have found something great before you have IMO, and it could have been a lot worse for sure!

Nice collection but doesn't go very far. Only 10 tracks here, one from each year (56-65), and about 25 minutes long. Have a cd that goes a lot deeper. Hard to believe this little girl had 37 charting singles in the 60's. Only four other artists surpassed that mark. Two of them I'm sure you can guess, Elvis and the Beatles. The other two maybe not. Give up? ok fine, Ray Charles and Connie Francis. Just had to throw some trivia in there. But this is about Brenda. This compilation just misses a love mark due to starting out with a couple of bad tracks. Understandable, as she would have been but 12 years old on the very bad version of Jambalaya in 1956. After maturing, the voice gets better. A few of her biggest hits are included here. My favorite is As Usual, which was a #12 hit in 1964. Her biggest hit ever is not included here, thank God. Don't need another listen of Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree. Just got over the wifes dusk til dawn x-mas music run. Anyway, nice little record here, even though light on the content. Some classic live clips here with not great quality but still fun to watch.

Worst Track - Jambalaya

Best Track - As Usual

The sun comes up and brings the dawn as usual
When I awake I'll find you're gone as usual
But I can't find a way to let this crazy heart of mine forget
I pretend you're still beside me as usual

Each evening I take a walk as usual
I make believe that we still talk as usual
People always stop and stare
I guess they just don't see you there
Don't they know you'll always be right here as usual

Today I looked into my mirror as usual
I told myself that you're still here as usual
And as I stood there telling lies
The tears began to fill my eyes
'Cause I know I'm only fooling myself as usual

BEN FOLDS "the best imitation of myself-a retrospective" cd,2011.

North Carolina born Folds released his first album with the Ben Folds Five back in 1996 and since then has released ten studio albums, and several live sets.
he has never bothered the UK/US charts very much, scoring several minor placings in both the albums and singles charts...his highest placing single in the US was "landed" reaching a peak of #77 there, but has had several top 20 albums there, he has never cracked the top 30 in the UK with any release...but here in Australia he has had numerous top 20 albums and a couple of top 10 hits in "brick" and "rockin the suburbs"...his success here with albums and live performances probably had something to do with his decision to move here around six or seven years ago.
his music is primarily piano based alternative pop, whilst some songs are serious in nature, others are quite satirical and sarcastic...add to that the odd bit of explicit language and you have an artist who does not get much radio play, thus the reason why he just doesnt sell records IMO.
i dont own any other BF albums but have enjoyed listening to him perform on TV over the last three decades...having no other albums i thought this would be a good introduction to his music as it is spread over three discs, the first(this one) contains his singles, the second contains 21 live tracks, and the third contains 22 b-sides/rarities, so for the price of a single disc you get 61 career spanning tracks in this anthology
i have only played the disc posted here and my only concern with it is that for a 'best of' disc it doesnt score as high as it probably should...makes me also think that if this best of set rates very average....just how bad is the rest of not only this album but his studio albums also!

Didn't know he had moved there.
I have a couple of albums which I like quite well
Not sure if they'd reach a love, but we'll find out when the F's come up.
He's also doing one of those talent show things here as a judge, forget the name of it.
