That's incredible that it's still #1 in the UK after being out for over a year! And I agree with you, the entire album is brilliant. I think "Set Fire to the Rain" is my favorite though.

Ain't they just so damn pretty? Can't decide which do I prefer. Ten too perfectly crafted power pop songs on this fifth Romantics album. Detroit band formed in '77, that picked up every brit invasion sound they could find and tried to make it american. The music works, just so repetitious. Can't tell one song from another. Best known song, What I Like About You, is from their debut album, but nothing that catchy on this one. All original songs except for a cover of the Coasters Poison Ivey, which was a waste. Numerous lineup changes over the five albums with this one being the only one with this cast. Lawsuit ensued with management after this release which kept the band from recording for years. A new and last album finally came out in 2003 which did nothing. But the band is still touring, playing What I Like About You numerous times no doubt. This album reached #77 here with singles of Mystified and Test Of Time not doing much. Not really a bad album, just an old sound at this point.

Adam Lambert's new album Trespassing. He put it up online. I think it actually comes out next week. It's not bad.

FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS "fine young cannibals" cd,1985
these guys rose from the ashes of one of my favourite uk-ska bands of the late 70s/early 80s...The Beat(british beat)..band imploded, forming this group and General Public who werent so good!
one of the first cds i actually bought!!!!
had the singles on vinyl as cd singles were still aways-a-way yet...great upbeat ska-cum-reggae-cum-dance-cum-pop album...not quite as good as their follow up release "the raw and the cooked" but a fine album nonetheless IMO...lots of infectious beats that get me bopping away on the couch...
some highly political statements here in "blue","johnny come home" and "move to work" amongst others...both rants at the then current Thatcher Regime in the UK,elsewhere, good lyrics and songs, i guess the biggest surprise here is a cover of Elvis' "suspicious minds" which is actually my favourite one here...i actually prefer this one to his classic from 1969...was probably the biggest hit on here also reaching top ten both here in Australia and at home in the UK...
