You read my mind, Crazy mate! I totally agree with your three artists! Hard to argue with your list. The great thing about Costello, Fogerty and Cave is that they are all active and releasing new albums...not exactly sure about John.
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:most guys tend to have a one tracked mind...always thinking about sex,me, i have a one tracked mind also....and it involves music, either searching for something new, reading, listening to, watching MTV, or simply analysing the charts from years gone by, but today at work i was thinking about artists who always seem to make quality albums and the ones i know i will get value for money from when i invest in those little shiny discs at Coreys store and i came up with a surprising list of quality artists who never dissapoint me, was surprised to find that Neil Young,Paul Weller,Paul McCartney,Elvis Presley and The Finn Brothers arent one of the artists i rated even though overall i rate them as my favourites in my playlists.
i came to the conclusion that:

Elvis Costello
Nick Cave
John Fogerty

are the only artists that i find are consistantly great in their song selection, lyrically and most importantly for getting great value for money when purchasing their albums, so who are the artists who you find match that criteria?

John fogerty has a new album coning out in a month or so called "wrote a song for everyone"

i probably wont get it as it is a covers set...a covers set of his own songs done with aother artists as guests...so im not really interested in it, but i have read somewhere that Foo Fighters appear on the new version of "fortunate son"...that may be interesting to hear IMO because that was a pretty heavy CCR song(musically speaking), so am wondering just how heavy FF can make it sound especially if Grohl sings on it

^ thanks for the Fogerty update!!!!...geez there's a lot of cover albums lately...Clapton's new one has a lot if not all covers! I'm a fan of covers for the most part but when one gets hyped up for a new release and it's a covers album ...it takes away the glitter somewhat!
