P!NK "the truth about love" cd, 2012. #1US, #1 AU, #1 CAN, #2 UK
P!nk's sixth studio album( i have four of these, dont own the first two)...
gave this one the thumbs up when released and reviewed here at MD on the boards...
one of my 2012 end of year purchases...
three collaborations on here...hte multi million selling "just give me a reason" with FUN!'s vocalist Nate Ruess, the new single "true love" with Lily Rose Cooper, and Eminem on "here comes the weekend", which incidently is by far the worst track on here, which is surprising to me because i love both artists, then again,P!nk appeared on his last album "recovry" which was also the worst one on that album also????
a couple of ballads on here, a few straight pop songs, and a couple of rockier tracks witht he rap of Eminem also....
all up, another very good album from pop music's "miss consistant", again, this one scores in the region of all her other albums(2.2-2.4)

THE CORRS "in blue" cd, 2000.
one from Dani's collection this time round....
was actually a bit worried this one would tarnish my good thoughts about this band, not sure why i thought that, but i did???, thankfully though, it simply re-inforced my high opinion of them!
lots of their usually great sounding harmonies and catchy tunes on here, i cant put my finger what it is, but, i thnik their albums are beautifully produced and sound probably as good as they could...everything,music wise, sounds perfect to me...all the instruments are sounding at the correct levels for my liking(not sure if that is down to a producer or an engineer as im nt really sure what each of those actually does...i only know it sounds terrific to my ears)...
that said, i dont think there are any great songs on here, just sixteen very precise songs that have been executed very well...
album reached #1 here in Australia and the UK, reached #5 in Canada but only topped out at #21 in the US...likewise, only one singles charted over there, "breathless", which peaked at #34...that same song made the top 10 here and got to #1 in the UK, two other tracks were lifted as singles here and in the UK..."give me a reason" which dipped out at #68 here but managed a half decent #27 over there, also, "irressistable" which made it to #27 here and #20 in the UK...
all up, a good steady album with no loves nor dislikes, so an overall score of 2.0 is apt on this occasion...

ALBERT HAMMOND "the very best of" cd, 1988.
a very good best of set from one of the forgotten or rarely remembered pop songwriters of the 1970s/80s....
this guy wrote(and often performed) some of the best songs ever written IMO,
have two of his studio albums, both get a love rating so its no surprise this one does the same....
only dissapointment here is the stupid reggae track "we're running out", which simply does not fit in anywhere, and most certainly does not suit his voice...
also, this guy has made so many great pop songs that i find it difficult to actually pin him down to one solitary 'best track', but this time i will go with the anti pollution track "down by the river"...this is one of those albums that every music collector/lover should own...simply brilliant IMO
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

BOBBY DARIN "things and other things" cd, 1962
one of five Darin albums i own...
pretty hard to know exactly where to put this multi-genred artist as he covered pop, rock, jazz, blues and swing so successfully during his career..
this one mainly consists of pop tunes with a few ballads thrown in for good measure, i like Darin a lot, think he was a tremendous talent back in the day.
he had four hits from this album, the biggest was "things" which reached #1 here,#2 UK, #3 US, the other three hits were tracks 5,9,10..
it is interesting to note that he only had one US #1 hit during his career, two in the UK and a whoppoing six out here(splish splash, dream lover, mack the knife, things, multiplication and fifteen yellow roses)...not sure why Splish Splash was a big hit, but it was!, i think he made far better songs than that, but hey, thems the breaks.
this album doesnt score as high as i thought it would but it is still reasonably good nonetheless
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

yea, Splish Splash was kinda weak
all I have is a best of set which is ruined by him talking between every track
Things, years since I've heard that one, love it
