![]() DARREN HAYES "spin" cd, 2002. debut solo set from the frontman of 1990s pop duo Savage Garden... this one follows in the footsteps of the two brilliant albums by those guys, brilliant lyrics about relationships, but maybe not as catchy as their songs... album reached #2 in the UK, #3 here and a low #35 Stateside, which i am surprised about as Savage Garden were quite big over there for the suration of their short career??? i wasnt aware that four singles were issued from this album,"insatiable" reached the top10 in a few countries including the UK and here in Oz... the other three singles, tracks #1,4,7, appeared to make either top20 or top30 in various charts...this was certainly a letdown after Savage Garden sold some 25million albums with only two album releases... nothing really as great on here IMO, but a good album with one love, but a couple i dont like offset it... I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: dirty best track: insatiable tracks: 1. strange relationship ** 2. insatiable *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiXWoWtLex4 video 3. heart attack ** 4. i miss you ** 5. creepin' up on you ** 6. dirty * 7. crush(1980 me) ** 8. good enough ** 9. i cant ever get enough of you ** 10.like it or not * 11.spin ** 12.the heart gets what the heart wants ** 3s=1 2s=10 1s=2 rating: 1.9

all albums - 52 singles - 71 from my library (cd) ![]() Terrible cover with no liner notes (a must have for a decent compilation), but it does have release dates and chart positions. This was first released in 1963 (a much better cover), and this reissue has 6 bonus tracks, assuming that's the last 6. Can't complain about the music though. Nothing I don't like. All the hits that I remember. Connie grew up in New Jersey in an Italian-Jewish neighborhood. Got her start from appearing in local talent shows. First big spot was on Arthur Godfreys show. Signed by MGM in 1955, it took eight singles before one charted, and that was a weak #93. The contract was for 10 singles. When she was informed by the label that she would be dropped after the next single. She made it count with a cover of the 1923 song, Who's Sorry Now. The song debuted on Dick Clarks American Bandstand in 1958. Her contract was renewed. Connie is now 75 years old and still does an occasional club gig. You go girl! ![]() DARREN HAYES "the tension and the spark" cd, 2004 Darren's second solo set since leaving Savage Garden... actually thought i liked this one better than his other albums, but the one up the page scores slightly better??? album is full of those pop sounds he is known for and those intelligent heartfelt, sensitive lyrics ha is so good at expressing! album sold a couple of million copies and spawned the sarcastic hit "pop!ular" which has a few little digs at 'fame'... not bad, and worth listening to! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: love and attraction best track: dublin sky tracks: 1. darkness ** 2. i like the way ** 3. light ** 4. pop!ular ** 5. dublin sky ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul6MfPTcPJE audio 6. hero ** 7. unlovable ** 8. void ** 9. i forgive you ** 10.feel ** 11.love and attraction * 12.sense of humour * 13.ego ** 14.boy * 3s=0 2s=11 1s=3 rating: 1.8

studio albums - 12 compilation albums - 6 singles - 36 from my library (cd) ![]() Check out that bee-hive. She must have copied that from the B-52's. Popular teen superstar of the 60's. It's My Party was the hit that made her that, at the age of 16. That was her first single and it went all the way to #1. She never returned to that peak, but she certainly rode the wave for a number of years. This compilation covers about 7 of them, 63-69. Her first album, in 63, was also her highest charting, at #24. Good thing they didn't call this a hits album, as it is far from that. It is a very nice representation of her career. Maybe too nice, with 52 tracks. Only 4 artists for me can put out that much material and still maintain quality. Not providing links or even a track listing for this one. studio albums - 15 compilation albums - 4 live albums - 3 ep's - 1 singles - 75 videos - 21 from my library (cd) ![]() Christian turned pop artist. I'm sure she lost some of the faithful when she made the move, but she obviously picked up more fans than she lost. Became popular on the chritian scene in the late 70's after hooking up with another like minded artist, Gary Chapman, whom she later married. Amy dumped Chapman after 3 kids, and married country artist Vince Gill a short time later. The mid 80's saw Amy make the gradual crossover to the contemporary scene. Typical guitar/synth pop of the period on this album, reminding me of Paula Abdul, minus the sexual overtones of course. Some God references on a few tracks, to show she hadn't completely abandoned her roots. She had a #1 single off of here in Baby Baby, which I don't care for at all. Nothing I love either but it's a decent pop album for the time. Made it to #10 on the overall chart and remains her best selling album. It also got Amy a Grammy nomination for Album Of The Year, which went to Natalie Cole. Must have been a weak year.
