There is a new album, Nanda Devi, by Hans Christian, and if you are not familiar with this master of new age instrumental music, it is time to get acquainted. The compositions were inspired by one of the tallest mountains in the world, Nanda Devi, which is considered a sacred site in India and is closed to all climbers because of its delicate eco-system and spiritual history.
Christian is a multi-instrumentalist and this is gorgeous music mixing Western and ethnic instrumentation (especially from India and the Mid-East). The music has gentle melodies that brush up against ambience on occasion. Christian plays a lot of cello, but also a couple of dozen world-music instruments.
The recording makes for a pleasurable listening experience, but also is ideal for relaxation, meditation, yoga, massage, reiki or any other slow and gentle personal, healthful, healing or spiritual times.
