Karimata 1987-1991? Indonesian fusion
#1
Hey there. I found this band not long ago. I've been searching online like a beast for some kind of discography or a collection of the albums, both for purchase and/or streaming link. Albums on youtube etc.

But have not found anything. I was wondering if you know about this band, it's groovy as hell, Share some similarities to "Casiopea" which I'm into as well.

Here are some samples:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyW-jUzSz6M

Anyway if you know anything please reply!

Take care.

welcome to MD....

"allmusic.com" has only one album release listed, here is the link:

Wiki only comes up with the actual place....an area of Greece, youre probably not interested in that info
but here it is anyway....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalamata

"amazon.com" has nothing on them in their online store.

I listened to both of the linked tracks whilst looking for info on these guys...
I preferred the second link to the first....
but theyre not really my thing...

Jerome....
this stuff could be right up your alley mate(assuming you don't already know who or what Karimata is)
and you've probably been to that region of Greece I bet!

Nice of you to answer so quickly. No no... <chuckles> Definitely not kalamata. Karimata* have an indonesian wiki page. It's right here: https://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karimata_%28grup_musik%29

With album releases. And i've found individual songs here and there on youtube, but i'd rather have a collection. I've also seen people, mostly indonesian sitting on casette tapes with Karimata. Searched amazon, ebay etc. No success. My next bet is to search indonesian ebay or something like that.

Anyway, If there are any indonesians browsing this forum, maybe you know more than me, probably! Please reply! Thanks..

Hey CH - you've got something mixed up here - Otviss mentions Karimata but your links go to Kalamata!!! And you're right I did like Karimata. A lot like Simon Phillip's band 'Protocol'. Fusion stuff, well played.

What a devilish deed you have done, Otviss! You just made me want to listen to a band that you knew didn't have any good quality recordings available online!
The best I've found is their discography on a torrent site with no seeds and in 128 kbps... which is about a fourth of what is acceptable.

Hahahah.

Well there are some youtube videos.. So you can find them online for sure. It's just that those are single songs here and there from different albums, meaning I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THE OTHER SONGS SOUND LIKE. Probably great.. I have no idea. Which is why a discography of any quality would be...well..acceptable for further research.

Ah, I see, you found a torrent? Want to share the link? :0

No seeds though. I think there was one the last time I checked, but it's still pretty dead :\
