Fusion is one genre I can't really appreciate. Maybe it'll come one day...

Weather Report , Jan Garbarek Group, John McLaughlin and somewhat jazzy Yakuza are some of my favorites. There are so many that I can't define one " favorite " but I really Love JAN GARBAREK. He's into everything it seems and I've been following him since 1975.

Of course Miles Davis had a few monster fusion groups in the seventies and Jaco Pastorius released a few memorable fusion albums. Chic Corea's Return to Forever group was also fusion at its best.

Who are yours ?

Good point, Steve. I have a copy of Bitches Brew, and regard it as a challenge. Can't say I really enjoy it in the same way as most of the stuff I listen to, but it's regarded as an important work, so it demands a certain amount of attention. I'll continue to play it to try and fathom its' delights, but I'm yet to try any of his other Fusion albums.

Tiggi,

Isn't that the way ! I hear so much publicity by the musicologists and music critics about a certain album and when you settle down to take it in - I don't get it ! IMO

No longer together - Mahavishnu Orchestra, Weather Report & Return to Forever because they were my first introduction to fusion and you always remember the first time.
Still together - CAB, Tribal Tech - because they are excellent musicians playing excellent music

Thanks Steve,

I listen to a lot of different music - I have more than 6,000 CDs in my collection, but there is a soft place in my head for jazz fusion and progressive rock
