The entertainment world has been plagued by scandal and unaccepteptable behaviour.
As an extreme example, if your favorite artist was convicted of a serious crime would you still hold them in high esteem, totally neglect them or accept their value as a musician and still enjoy their music regardless of what their personal life is like ?
Some examples - Michael Jackson(never convicted...RIP), Burzum (death metal artist, convicted of murder but still recorded from prison),George Jones( the infamous NO SHOW JONES...concert cancellations due to his drunkenness - it happened here to me!) etc. and others that you know

I guess it depends what the behaviour is. I have no problem with artists' self-detructive tendencies. Amy Winehouse is a case in point, walking disaster area, but her last album was superb IMV. Music is littered with dozens of similar cases...
Cat Stevens went on record in support of the fatwah imposed on author Salman Rushdie following the publishing of his "The Satanic Verses". Stevens/Youssef Islam is still on my blacklist.
Gary Glitter and his paedo exploits. Probably wouldn't have bought any of his material anyway, but definitely won't now.

Their behaviour doesn't affect my like or dislike of their music, but in some cases it might affect whether or not I support them by purchasing their music. Like Tiggi said "I have no problem with artists' self-destructive tendencies." Although it was never proven, I don't own any Michael Jackson music, but I do like some of it.

If a musician I respected/admired was convicted of a serious crime (not accused mind you - but convicted), then that respect would no longer exist for him as a person - good musician or not. I would still like his music - that won't change - because it might reflect a time when he was doing something right/good. But music is not the be all and end all of everything - only a part of life. If a talented musician can't see that then he is seriously screwed up. To become self-absorbed (note the phrase) in only one area of life is a mistake. And most of those who have commited crimes have got to the stage where they think they are somehow different to the rest of us mere mortals - courtesy of crap, manipulative so-called managers with their own agenda. Everyone is accountable. Famous or not. But the most manipulative lot of all is the media.

Gary Glitter...convicted paedo, i destroyes all his records after his second conviction.
Paul Weller...always heard he had a bad attitude when i met him last year, all was confirmed...i have no respect of him as a person now
Liam Gallagher....i only continued to buy Oasis cds because of Noel's writing skills, i have not bought the Beady Eye album because of Liam
Pete Townshend....i was crapping myself when he was questioned over child porn on his computer,thankfully his reason for 'research' saved my Who collection...im still not convinced though???

For me it's the Gallaghers- their blatant disregard for anyone/anything but themselves and their egos makes them the most annoying band on the planet.
Gary Glitter obviously but the main point is- his music was shite in the first place!!
Axl Rose- my friends constant obsession with this clown is only one reason i can't stand him or GNR... or Slash for that matter!
Can't think of anymore at the moment.... When I dont like a band/artist either because of their music or their antics I don't tend to dwell on it (unless prompted as here!) - I just ignore them and pay attention to the ones I love!

It's well known that Weller, albeit a great songwriter (at least once upon a time), is a w****r. After all his best friend is Noel Gallagher. Put them together and you have the two biggest ego-maniacs/self proclaimed geniuses on the planet.

How anyone can support the death sentence is beyond me. If you get the chance read Norman Mailer's book, 'The Executioner's Song' - chilling stuff.

For me the jury is still out, Its the music after all that the public sees...............I have managed to chat at length with one or two people who know something about the inside of the music industry and I have read widely........................ The group of people we are looking at is hardly a typical of the human race.........
They spend their lives divorced from reality surrounded by sycophants and often unchallenged........Now they tend to have access to whatever they want and people who can get it .................as a result many of them live lives and do things that most of us find challenging if not repulsive.....................Of course they also have the money to arrange to cover it up and until recently mostly they got away with it..................
Now there are one or two who get through it without many incidents but they are rare.
It's an odd life being a famous musician and not surprisingly odd things happen but they also thing that odd things are ok.
Still we still have people like Cliff Richard, pure untouched ..................or is he ? Read carefully the books about him and his early life look at his professional real;tionship with the members of the Shadows and lokk for his pecadilos.................
I think if we knew the real thruth there would not be that many aratist to buy left !
