Recommend Some Instrumental Metal!
#1
Hi all, I consider myself a bit of an instrumental metal buff, but I am always on the lookout for more great instrumental metal tracks. I don't know why, but I especially dig instrumentals by bands who don't usually do that sort of thing. That's not to say I don't dig bands that are all instrumental--I do!

What are your favorites?

I don't really listen to metal but could recommend non-metal instrumentals.

Dream Theatre isn't entirely instrumental but they don't sing much like Agalloch. I like Steven Wison for instrumental metallic stuff ! Also instrumental are Sunn O))) !

I recently discovered a new band ATOMA - album SKYLIGHT form this year ! , very good instrumental metal !!!!!...Enjoy. What are some of your favs Nick ?

I've never hear of Atoma, so I will check them out! Of those suggested by evilB, I'm mostly familiar. Like I said, for some reason I really get into instrumentals by bands who don't usually write them. It's not intentional, it just works out that way. There are obvious ones, like "Orion" by Metallica, or "Into the Lungs of Hell" by Megadeth, but here are a bunch of songs that I really like:

Lead Me Home - Shadows Fall
Prelude to Disaster - Shadows Fall
Voice of the Soul - Death
Inquisition Symphony - Sepultura (not really great music, but the energy is unbelievable and relentless)
Just Like You Imagined - Nine Inch Nails
Canto 34 - Five Finger Death Punch
Strung Up From the Sky - Pelican
Losfer Words (Big 'Orra) - Iron Maiden
Intro to Reality - Anthrax (I am NOT an Anthrax fan by any means, but I don't let that get in the way of me identifying an awesome composition
when I hear one)
The Heart of it All - Chimaira
The Crusade - Trivium
Urotsukidoji - Testament
Funeral in Space - Armaggedon
UUDDLRLRABABSelectStart - Deftones
The Gale - Insomnium
Moby Dick - Led Zepplin
Malko - Russian Circles
Dreamscape - In Flames (again, not brilliant, but relentless energy for sure!)
And Blood Was Passion - Zebulon Pike
Woodpecker from Mars - Faith No More
Overture 1928 - Dream Theater
Malignant Narcissism - Rush

...and many more!!
