I am not sure there is much of a "thing" here. I don't know why it is any different. There is a woman who just happens to be in a band with men. I don't think there is an agenda. Are you saying that if there is a woman lead singer it is automatically an issue? SHe is either sub-par even though she is the lead singer or she was only put there because she is a female? Because I don't think anyone thinks of it like that. A lot of bands were formed out people who knew each other and it just os happens the girl could sing or rock it out! I don't think fans or onlookers look at is in a feministic sort of way.
The funny thing is I think that men listen to bands with all male members more than female ones. Not because they are better, but because sometimes they are more easily relatable to. So I don't think sticking a female in the front is to get some male fans.
To reiterate,I think people can make this into something it's not, because people like to do that. But I think that it just is what it is.
