Your First Metal Band ??

Tiggi Wrote:Metallica do seem to be a big favourite band. Even I like some of their stuff...

Tiggi, you should check out their S&M live album/DVD where they played alongside the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra which was conducted by Michael Kamen. Metal purists dismiss it as an attempt by Metallica to sell out or whatever but I think its a successful fusion of metal & classical music and they deserve credit for having the balls to do it.

Heres a few video from that amazing concert:

I grew up with a steady soundtrack of Iron Maiden being played by my brothers in the background but I think Metallica is MY first metal band. I first heard Ride the Lightning and I still love that album when the mood strikes me.

My first metal band would be Metallica. I got Black Album as a gift from my stepfather and I loved it at the time. And a bit later I got a CD of some underground death metal band, which I didn't care about. But it grew onto me and when we moved to another location I lost the CD. It was about 5 years ago and I still haven't figured out which album by which artist it was again, all I can remember it having four tracks.

nobody calls it metal but my first experience with it was Beethoven. I call it heavy metal, my logic though is probably flawed in the eyes of most... but Beethoven used heavy piano strings "hence the idea of HEAVY METAL" so he could slam down on the chords without the strings breaking on him... he was hearing impaired though so he also needed the extra loudness so that he could feel the music through vibrations... my first metal experience was Ludwig Van Beethoven! lol
