Your First Metal Band ??

Tiggi Wrote:My first experience of Metal was with Black Sabbath (If they can be classified as Metal ?!). Got into their eponymous first album, and Technical Ecstacy at about the age of 15, which led me into loads of exploration of similar bands.

Don't listen to much of this stuff these days, but when in the mood, it still has its' place.

What was the first Metal band that you fell in love with ??

One of my first was also Black Sabbath. Like you, I don't hear them often anymore but they're awesome when it's the right time and place.

Couldn't agree with you more ! They are scheduled for a tour this year but I don't know how that's going with the fact that Tony is fighting cancer ????

^ I read the other day that some of the dates have changed to "Ozzy & friends".

There's also some controversy over Bill Ward's participation, as he feels the contract he's been handed is insulting, and has said he won't play. The rest of them are prepared to carry on without him...

Watch this space.

For me it was Linkin Park. They sort of were my gateway band into metal. From there I went on to listen to more "proper" metal.

What bands do you listen to that are "proper" metal?

When I say proper, I'm basically referring to metal bands that aren't nu-metal, because that genre in particular seems to get a lot of abuse from people. I still like it, but most people will freak out if I even use the word metal in the same sentence as Linkin Park. As for what bands, everything from Kamelot to Slayer to Cannibal Corpse and everything in between.
