I thought we should start a thread as I guess there is going to be quite a bit of interest around the forum. We already have 200 members from the host nation

What will the exciting matches?
and what's the exciting gossip so far ?
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )

I really enjoy the World Cup - I've been in France a couple of times when they've been in the final/won. Will be in France or Spain this year around the date of the Final, so hopfully one of them will win.
If I was to pick a winner - I'd have to say Spain - or maybe Germany (eurocentric that I am)
Maybe a sweepstake closer to the time?
Domenech didn't nominate Benzema and Nasri. When will this guy get fired already...
Concerning the winner I have to agree with CMB on that one. Spain will be hard to beat. I doubt that we can make it to the final since Löw picked an overall pretty young and unexperienced squad.

Only saw some scenes and that asshole Kevin-Prince Boateng. I hope Ballack isn't seriously injured.

Well England's game against Mexico wasn't the best match to begin our WC! 3-1 may look a flattering scoreline but we played really quite poor. Oh well, let's see what happens when June comes!

Well, Im that fired up about this years world cup that I've booked the first 2 weeks off work, plan to buy a brand new flatscreen 22" HD TV & plenty of beer . ITV & BBC have all the match rights, so I also plan to watch every game!
I quite fancy Argentina to win it & always like to see Holland go far. Other teams I will be watching out for are Denmark & Ivory Coast. In terms of supporting, to one's dismay Scotland appear to be absent  ,so I will have to do the honourable thing & support USA,Algeria & Slovenia- all of which are totally random selections of course . Couldnt catch England match on tele at all last night but saw the highlights & England looked pretty weak at the back tbh. Apart from Johnson's goal which was a peach, I think they will struggle defensively at the World Cup.
Looking at the fixtures there is one game in the early stages which I think will be a cracker- Netherlands- Denmark on 14th. After watching Denmarks games on youtube, they have been playing some great attacking football so will be a joy to watch.
